Union Pacific Railroad celebrated 150 years of the transcontinental railroad at the end of 2019. Big Boy Number 4014 locomotive swept through Hays during its tour to celebrate the 150th Anniversary. As luck would have it, the chilly, snowy weather provided a real life “Polar Express” experience for those that made the trip to watch the locomotive chug along through town. A few members of the Nex-Tech marketing team captured the magical moment on video as well. The video was shared on the Nex-Tech Facebook page to allow others to see it and the video quickly gained its own steam. Nex-Tech's recording was viewed by nearly half a million people! It was also shared on Kansas news stations in Wichita and Kansas City. Soon requests to share the video began to come in from networks in China, Singapore, Good Morning America and more.
