Goal Setting

Posted by Mark St.Peter on Jan 12, 2017 1:02:06 PM

As I sit at my desk closing out the year, I like to reflect on what went well, what could have gone better, and how I can improve next year.  One of the first areas I thought about was how well I planned and how well I executed that plan.  At the beginning of the year, it was easy to plan ahead and to set goals for where I wanted to be by the end of the year both professionally and personally.  Through the first six months, things were going well and it was easy to stick to the plan and measure progress towards my goals.  Then it happened.  A couple of unexpected twists and turns and I found myself just trying to keep up instead of following my plan.

Posted by Mark St.Peter on Nov 11, 2016 12:01:53 PM

Nex-Tech’s Annual Vendor Meeting was held last month with some of our key business partners as we prepare to close out this year and plan for next year.  With this being our 8th year, it’s always nice to see some familiar faces at the table, but it was great to see a lot of new faces from some strategic partnerships that were made in the last 12 months.  As we all get together, it’s easy to identify a common theme of how can we serve our customer’s better in the next 12 months.

Minimum Specs May Not Be Enough

Posted by Mark St.Peter on Feb 19, 2016 1:58:34 PM

Recently, my son came to me and asked if I would get him a laptop.  I think, for the most part, he really wanted it for Minecraft and other games, but he could also use it for school.  He started to do some research on his own and found a couple of different options.  We looked at Chromebooks, Windows devices, and more.  I didn’t want to spend a whole lot, but also wanted to make sure I got something that was going to work.  I had an idea in my head of what specs he needed, but the options we were looking at were less than those.  We did our research together to find what operating system worked with his games, what the minimum specs were compared to the recommended specs, and what the prices were on each of them.  After much debate, we finally made a decision and purchased a laptop with the minimum specs knowing that it may not work the way he was hoping.

Over the last several years, I have spent a lot of time incorporating tablets into my every day computing routine with the goal of being able to replace my laptop with a tablet.  After many unsuccessful tries, I have found that the Microsoft Surface Pro has finally led me to my goal.
